This track has gone through many versions since it's recording back in 2006. The original recorded lyrics were addressing the presidency of George W Bush but that version was never released. A new version of the lyrics came about in 2016 and we made that available in a limited release for our fans in our "30 Tracks in 30 Days" series. Election Blues finally finds it's Worldwide release with new updated lyrics from Seneca (written and recorded in late August 2020).
lyrics
This election,
will be a game of misdirection
mask or no mask
Class is in session
Canada gave 2k a month/ We get repression
our presidents/ malevolent/
we can't wait to get a better one
That old Meglaton/ stealing a paraplegics peloton,
we now stand divided, when Obama had us trying
pick an issue we got tissues ,an a dopamine hit
we get no justice, but 65 rolls of TP
We hit that panic button, Trump was golfing on TV,
If money buys elections, what the fuck we voting for,
but we have to
Biden's not my guy/ but we have to,
not as shitty as Trump
and we know/ that's the sad truth,
we all want the pie they give us crumbs we can try,
Angela Davis said to vote she's seen many multiply
it's the future four years/ it could be stuck on repeat,
We pressing delete,
hitting the streets,
let's all speak,
change a life in a week,
we fight for the meek
I write like I speak,
unite all beings,
like a night at the beach,
we can't accept the status quote
we take a step or a leap,
change the system, go in deep,
All are wolfs or a sheep,
awake or asleep,
Snakes in the grass, we make em retreat,
the love will never die, why were singing for peace
Scheming on a better country
without death and disease,
we are a family, we make this planet better for bees,
all souls deserve love
and to conquer their goals.
Friends or ya foes, compose pros, exposin' your woes
no need to reload, take it slow
just go with the flow,
Nobody planned for Pandemic
So I'm letting you know
this election could be the last stand
hates last blow
from Zimbabwe to Glasgow/ we need fair elections
and that's so/
bringing you back like lasso
flame still fly/ freedom still rung/
old and young
heroes unsung//
tracing where we come from.....
Africa
