The 40th album released by Jazz Mafia, Un-Covered Vol.5 continues our never-ending explorations reimagining timeless songs from around the World in new and inventive ways. This time, we embark on a thrilling journey through World music and deep Funk, driven by the infectious energy of the Brass Mafia Brassband.
Our voyage commences in Nigeria with a vibrant double feature of Fela Kuti's iconic tunes, setting the stage for trumpeter Mikey “The Hitman” Olmos to light things up. Next, we traverse the Atlantic to Jamaica, where we groove to the rhythmic beats of Ska, with 2 compositions courtesy of the legendary pioneers, The Skatalites.
As we touch down in America, we find ourselves immersed in a rich musical tapestry that has evolved over centuries through the African Diaspora. Funk, Blues, and Soul lay the foundation, paving the way for innovative breakbeat, experimental sounds, and even the electrifying live Drum N Bass.
This collection promises an eclectic mix that celebrates the diverse influences and creative spirit behind Jazz Mafia's unique reimagining of these timeless classics.
