"Tales From The Barbary Coast" is the second full-length album from Jazz Mafia's flagship group, The Shotgun Wedding Quintet. Released in 2011, this collection of songs documents the band at its height of live performance abilities. Compared to their Self-titled debut from 2007, this release is lean, mean and straight to the point. No orchestra, big band and very few guest spots. The focus here is on meticulous songwriting while constantly pushing boundaries musically. The addition of drummer Pdubl to the group since the first album is noticeably punchy and futuristic sounding, Joe Cohen and Adam Theis' horns cut through more intensely and in your face than the entire orchestra on the previous album. Vocalist/lyricist Dublin takes his affinity for storytelling to epic heights - Enjoy the ride!
