Starting in 2000, Jazz Mafia was founded, thanks mainly to a weekly Tuesday night residency in SF's North Beach. The venue manager gave us complete freedom to be as experimental as we wished, as long as it was good and there was a "beat". This album documents some of the music that developed over those first 2 years and the group that emerged form those weekly sessions, Realistic. In 2003, when we moved the residency to SF's Mission district, we started Realistic Orchestra, a 20 piece orchestral version of this core band and have released 2 albums under that group.
